Phil Gould is a drummer, composer, songwriter and producer who was a founder member of Level 42, an English band who achieved International success in the 1980s. He is now an independent artist releasing solo work along with collaborations across Europe as a writer, producer & performer.
Phil was born in Hong Kong, but grew up on the Isle of Wight, playing drums in local bands and went on to study percussion and piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London. While there Phil became part of the studio band 'M', formed by Robin Scott around his global hit 'Pop Muzik' and where he met renowned French keyboard artist Wally Badarou, who went on to play, co-write & co-produce all of Level 42's albums.
Wally (along with frequent collaborator Rupert Brown), played on Phil's first solo album 'Watertight', and both are also featured on Phil's upcoming release 'Beautiful Wounds'.
